Your First Session

Finding a massage therapist whose style fits what you are looking for takes time and costs money. I offer the first session at a reduced rate because I think that process should feel less like a gamble.

I do it because I am confident in my skills. Most people who come in once come back. The intro rate is not a discount for its own sake. It is an honest way to start a relationship without putting the full financial weight of that decision on a first appointment.

About

Slow work. Real results.

Daniel Litovchenko performing deep tissue massage in West Town Chicago

I am a licensed massage therapist based in West Town, Chicago. I have been practicing since 2017, spending the majority of that time in clinical settings across Seattle and Chicago.

I am currently earning a bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences at National University of Health Sciences and have extensive knowledge of the musculoskeletal system. That foundation informs everything about how I work, how I read tissue, how I prioritize, and how I explain what is happening to the people I work with.

Before anything else, I am reading the body. Using compressions over the drape, I get a sense of how the tissue is responding and how much pressure it will accept before tensing up. From there I apply a heavy pressure that is intense without being overwhelming, staying attentive to how the body is responding throughout.

Sessions are fully customized. There is no menu, no default sequence. Every session is built around what is present that day.

I believe that massage is a genuinely useful tool, and also that it is one tool among many. Pain is rarely the result of a single cause. Sleep, nutrition, stress, and movement patterns all contribute, and part of working together over time is developing a clearer picture of what is driving things for you specifically. That conversation happens gradually and without pressure.

The goal in every session is to create change without creating a response that counteracts the progress we have made.

This works best as a two way process. What you notice between sessions, what feels better, what feels different, what is not changing yet, all of that information matters and shapes where we go next. Over time a clearer picture develops of what is driving things for you specifically, and the work gets more targeted as a result.

I also share what I am observing and what I think is going on, with the understanding that I am working with a hypothesis, not a diagnosis. If something is not responding the way I expect, I will tell you that directly and point you toward someone better positioned to evaluate it.

People come in carrying all kinds of things. Neck tension that has built up over months, headaches that keep returning, discomfort that shifts around and never fully resolves. Some people have a clear sense of what is going on. Others just know something is off and want to feel better.

Whatever the situation, the work starts with a conversation. I want to understand what you are dealing with, what has helped in the past, and what has not. From there we figure out together what makes sense.

If you have had deep tissue work before that felt forced or left you worse off, I want to know that. It changes how I approach the session and what I pay attention to. The ability to read how a body is responding in real time and adjust accordingly is something I take seriously, and it is a big part of why people who have had bad experiences elsewhere tend to feel comfortable here.

If you are not sure whether this is what you are looking for, reach out before booking. I would rather answer a few questions and have you come in confident than have you show up uncertain about whether it was the right call.

Frequently Asked Questions

What to Expect

Wear whatever you are comfortable in. Most clients undress to their comfort level and are draped throughout the session. Only the area being worked on is uncovered at any time. If you prefer to stay clothed, please bring athletic clothes so the work can be adapted accordingly.

The focus is on outcomes, reducing pain, improving mobility, and addressing something specific. That said, most clients find the work genuinely relaxing despite the clinical intent. If relaxation is your primary goal, let me know and I can adjust the session accordingly.

Your first 60-minute session is $80. No packages, no commitments. It is simply an opportunity to experience the work and see if it is right for you. The standard rate for a 60-minute session after your first visit is $100.

I do not deal directly with insurance companies. If you have questions about your specific situation, feel free to reach out before booking.

It depends on what you are dealing with and your availability. For something acute or that has been building for a while, more frequent sessions early on tend to produce better results. For maintenance, once or twice a month works well for most people. We will talk through what makes sense after your first session.

Please give at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations and no-shows may be subject to a fee. Life happens. Just communicate as early as possible and we will work it out.

Yes. I work with clients throughout pregnancy and can address back and hip pain, discomfort, and general tension that tends to build as the body changes. Please mention that you are pregnant when submitting your booking request so the session can be set up appropriately.

Your first session will start with a brief conversation about what you are dealing with and what you are hoping to get out of the work. Everything moves at your pace. Feel free to ask questions at any point before, during, or after the session.

That is worth telling me before we start. The more I know about what has and has not worked for you in the past, the better I can approach the session. I apply heavy pressure, but I am constantly reading how the body is responding and adjusting in real time. If something is not working, it gets changed. There is no predetermined approach being applied regardless of what the tissue is telling me.
